Beautiful Christmas Lights Part 2

I did it when the sun was shining and it wasn’t cold, so I didn’t have to come out here and freeze to death. The tough part was putting all the wiring in and all the extension cords and I had to do that in the cold…..

Most of the stuff you see that I have out here I’ve had for a series of probably ten to fifteen years, so it wasn’t something I just went out and got. It was an accumulation over a period of time and I’m tired.

Everything seemed to work okay. I had to make a few adjustments on my extensions today. Consequently, you know, they work on light sensors and if you got two of them together, if one comes on first, well the light from the first one shines on the second one and the second one won’t come on. So, consequently, you can’t have two of them too close together. And that’s what I was correcting today. I ran into that problem last night.

My main lights work off a switch in the house in the back room. And then the ones in the front, which I really have a lot on, I use the breaker. I turn the breaker on and off for that one in the basement because there’s just too much power on there. And everything works pretty good.

And every year it’s a little different. Nothing’s always the same. Number one, I couldn’t remember how I did it last year so you start from scratch basically. But you have basic things such as your bushes and your the lights you put on your house. And everything else is hit and miss.

Nothing is that difficult or that elaborate. For instance, on my arbors there it was very simple because I just hung all the lights over the rungs and nothing’s really attached. The same way with my wreaths. I just, everything is just pretty much hung on everything. So it comes off very easy. The only, the real attachments are, of course, the electrical outlets.

At the outset, I leave it on for four hours. Then people get into the spirit and into the mood and I leave it on for six hours after that. And because some of them switches have got to be turned off and I go to bed. I don’t like to stay up too late.

Well, I leave them on quite, for quite a while because definitely, probably, at least a week after New Year’s. I try to draw it out as long as I can and get as much enjoyment out of it because when you take it down, it’s a little dull around here.
